Pawderosa Ranch offers a safe environment for dogs that are boarding with us. We keep everything very clean, monitor dogs who are playing together, pay close attention to feeding and medicine, and so forth. However, there are inherent risks associated with taking your dog to any boarding facility.
It is very rare that a dog leaves here with an injury or illness after staying for boarding. However, just to be on the safe side, we offer a unique Health Warranty Program that reimburses you for veterinary care your dog might need after boarding with us, based on the guidelines listed below.
Program Description:
Pawderosa Ranch’s Health Warranty Program (PRHWP) offers you peace of mind while your dog boards with us. If your dog is injured or suffers an illness as a result of boarding here, we will reimburse you for your veterinary bill(s) up to $250.
Program Cost:
$2 per pet, per boarding night. Note that this is per boarding night, not per stay. Therefore, the warranty cost for a 5-night boarding stay would still only be $10 for one dog.
Maximum Coverage:
$250 per pet, per boarding stay
Time Limit:
Any and all original claims under this warranty program must be submitted within 5 days after Pawderosa Ranch relinquishes care, custody, or control of the pet to the owner after a boarding stay.
Reimbursement Time:
The pet owner must provide written documentation from the vet that is satisfactory to Pawderosa Ranch. This documentation must include a receipt and a written diagnosis. Assuming your documentation is in order and the conditions have been met for this warranty program, we will reimburse you by check within 14 days.
Exclusive Remedy:
This coverage is the pet owner's exclusive remedy in the event of any claim for illness, injury, or medical care for a covered pet. The pet owner shall remain responsible for all charges exceeding the maximum coverage amount.
What is covered:
¥Injury caused by another dog
¥Contagious illness such as kennel cough and giardia
¥ Diarrhea, vomiting, or similar conditions that persist for more than a three (3) days and that are found to be caused by a contagious illness
Exclusions:
¥ Illness is not covered for dogs over 10 years of age. This is because dogs in this age range may have compromised immune systems that cannot adequately fight illness. Injury would still be covered for dogs in this age range.
¥Diarrhea, vomiting, or other conditions caused by stress.
¥ Illness caused by not eating or drinking. Please note that we monitor feeding very carefully and do everything we can do help them eat, including leaving their food in their boarding suite at night, and adding wet food or chicken stock to whet their appetites. In addition, we have water available for the dogs at all times, including in their boarding suite at night, plus on the play floor.
¥Pre-existing health conditions:
Examples include but are not limited to:
- Ear infections
- Worms
- Underlying skin conditions (e.g., from matted hair)
- Skin tenderness, sores, cracks, or redness that is common in breeds such as bulldogs (e.g., those with wrinkly, thin skin that is prone to skin conditions)
- Soreness or limping from a previous injury or health condition such as hip dysplasia
¥ Injury that the pet has caused itself (e.g., jumping and landing incorrectly, twisting its knee, biting at its boarding suite, chewing its own bed, chewing at its own nails, biting at a scab, etc.)
¥Injury or illness caused by factors that are clearly present in our environment. For example, we would not be responsible for veterinary reimbursement due to the following scenarios:
- We have pools available that the dogs can get in and cannot be held responsible if your dog's skin has a reaction to water.
- We take the dogs outside frequently and cannot be held responsible if your dog has a reaction to heat (please keep in mind that we do limit the outdoor time and watch for any breathing issues with short-faced dogs, older dogs, and overweight dogs)
¥ Injury or illness caused by items that you bring (e.g., chewing his bed, a toy, a bone, etc.)
¥ Illness or diarrhea caused by your pet's food or medicine, or by us following the feeding or medicine instructions you supply us. Please bear in mind that changing your dog's diet can cause diarrhea at first, so we don't recommend it in conjunction with a boarding stay.
¥ Illness in conjunction with a vaccination that your dog may be missing (we require updated vaccinations at all times, but we included this just in case - for example, if an expiration date was entered incorrectly on your vaccination document)
¥ Injury, illness or other consequence when pets who are boarded together at the owner's request take action against each other
¥ Injury or other consequence while the dog is in the hands of the owner or authorized agent, either during check-in or check-out.
¥Injury, illness or other consequence resulting from environmental factors outside of Pawderosa Ranch’s control, such as Acts of God, terrorism, etc.
